Tragedy has struck the Pwani University community as the sports director, who survived a fatal bus accident in 2015, has died in another crash. Mr. Ali Mohammed Juma was traveling to Nairobi from Mombasa on Tuesday night when the accident occurred in Naivasha.
According to reports, the accident involved a head-on collision between a trailer and a Nissan saloon car that Juma was traveling in. Juma was rushed to Naivasha Sub-county Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Juma had been in charge of sports at Pwani University since 2013 and had been traveling to Nairobi to attend a meeting of university sports directors. His death has sent shockwaves through the university community, with many expressing their condolences and mourning the loss of a dedicated sports leader.
In 2015, Juma was among the survivors of a fatal bus accident that claimed the lives of seven Pwani University students and left several others injured. The accident occurred when the bus, which was traveling from Mombasa to Nairobi, overturned near Kibwezi. Juma was among the injured and had to undergo surgery for his injuries.

The university has released a statement expressing their sadness at Juma’s passing and acknowledging his contributions to the institution. “Mr. Juma was a dedicated and committed member of our community, and his loss is deeply felt by all of us at Pwani University,” the statement read. “We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
The cause of the accident is under investigation, and authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of traveling, and the need for road safety measures to be prioritized.
